The archive
Before sharing an item, we check its source, website permissions, and accessible description. Accuracy, cultural and privacy concerns, reuse rights, details that may have changed, and editorial suitability are reviewed separately.
The collection is being prepared
A scan being available online does not by itself give us permission to republish it. Images will appear here after we have checked the permissions and completed the other reviews. Private research originals stay private.
We display copies approved for this website. Private research originals are not shared here.
We check permission for the particular image or document, even when an archive has a general reuse policy.
Publishing an image here does not give the chatbot access to its source or text. That needs a separate review and approval.
